Before taking any measurements it is essential to understand that Gliderol roller doors can only be installed to the internal face of the opening or behind a suitable structure such as a timber framework. For more information read the Gliderol single skin door technical details page.
Measure the Width
Measure the structural opening width (brick to brick) in mm (we advise you to measure top, middle and bottom to allow for any deviations in the opening. Use the biggest measurement for the width).
Meausure the Height
Place the tape on the floor and measure from this point to the underside of the lintel. Check the opening in three places to check for any deviation in dimensions. Use the biggest measurement.
Combine the Measurements
This will give you your ordering size (width x height) In the case of the illustrated drawings a 2010mm (w) x 2110mm (h) will be ordered.
Checking the Headroom and Side Room
You will now need to need to check the side room and headroom space you have available. Using the below image as a reference, measure in three places to check for any deviation in dimensions. This time use the smallest measurement.
Headroom Requirements
The minimum clearance required above the structural opening is:
Side Room Requirements
NB* 2135mm High doors wider than 3400mm will require 450mm of headroom
Check The Horizontal Space
Finally you will need to ensure enough horizontal space is available to conceal the door roll from view when looking from the outside.
The minimum horizontal clearance required is:
